Yoko Molotov is a multimedia artist based in Louisville, Kentucky. Her work spans illustration, comics, painting, poetry, and performance, drawing inspiration from mythology, folklore, medieval art, the Western esoteric tradition, and the pursuit of gnosis.

Influenced by the automatic drawing practices of Austin Osman Spare, Molotov developed and named her own method of AUTOMATIC ASSEMBLY, a free flowing art making process in which conscious intention is set aside, allowing imagery to emerge through intuition, symbolism, divination, and association. Rather than illustrating predetermined ideas, each work is discovered through the act of making, revealing unexpected relationships between symbols, figures, and text. She is currently illustrating The Molotov Tarot, an original 78 card tarot deck created through this process, allowing the deck to reveal itself one card at a time.

Her work blends comedy with tragedy, innocence with erotica, and precise graphic draftsmanship with unpolished expressionism. Rich with medieval ornamentation, esoteric symbolism, and visual storytelling, her work explores the imaginal landscape where ritual, dreams, folklore, and the unconscious converge.

Yoko Molotov has exhibited work at WheelHouse Art, Land of Tomorrow in Louisville and Lexington, Sheherazade Gallery in Louisville, the Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, Indiana, and ARTS ITOYA in Takeo, Japan.

As a musician, Molotov has performed in projects including harpy, injury lawyer, and LIVE KNIVES.
